CREATION OF SOMEJ

The Sociedad Mexicana C. G. Jung, A.C. (SOMEJ) was created as a non-profit organization in June 2005 by its founding members: Ana Soní, Lilian Sutton, Matilde Hemsani and Patricia Michan, Jungian psychoanalysts certified by the International Association of Analytical Psychology (IAAP). In July 2008, Héctor Morán and Víctor M. López joined SOMEJ as ordinary members. Danila Crespi and Brian Feldman are honorary members of SOMEJ. In August 2010, the Sociedad Mexicana C. G. Jung, Asociación Civil (SOMEJ, A.C.) was officially recognized by the IAAP during its Eighteenth International Conference held in Montreal, Canada.

The creation of SOMEJ mainly responds to our profound belief and inner mandate to work on a collective level in order to potentiate our commitment and participation as Jungian analysts in Mexico.

One of SOMEJ's general objectives is to do research and disseminate Carl Gustav Jung's analytical psychology in both its theoretical and clinical aspects among the general, professional and academic public from major universities and organizations dedicated to the study of psychology and psychoanalysis in Mexico through seminars, conferences and publications in the media. As members of SOMEJ, we are convinced that our main goal is to disseminate analytical psychology in Mexico institutionally, not only among the psychoanalytical and academic community in general, but also through the media.

Based on our own individual and clinical experience, our training and analytical work, as well as our professional knowledge and mutual respect as colleagues, we as members of SOMEJ share the same core values and principles on the understanding of psyche, depth analysis and analytical training.
